
If you haven’t seen it, there’s a wonderfully addictive blog filled with passive aggressive notes found in public spaces.
None, however, comes close to this letter sent in 1865 by a freed slave to his former master, who had graciously invited the man and his family back from the North to serve him in freedom.
The request for back-pay is brilliant, but I particularly like the sign-off:
Say howdy to George Carter, and thank him for taking the pistol from you when your were shooting at me.
