One of the world’s leading diamond producers, DeBeer’s, has decided to halt production in their diamond mine in the Democratic Republic of Congo, withthe reason being the current economic climate makes the project no longer viable.
Translation:
Now that we’ve come to this country, raped the land of its resources, abused our quasi-monopoly and paid less for labor than what it was worth, we’re realizing that we can’t get a 9,000% 30% markup so, we’re bouncing. Thanks for the ride, Congo!
