History is riddled with stories of progress and good coming from disasters and atrocities. Racism can be added to that list of “bad” seeking good. No I’m not some pollyanna, in fact I am more of a realist than a glass half full optimist.
Few would disagree that the temperature related to race relations has been turned up in recent months. If one happens to be on the receiving end it’s painful and demoralizing. Since we started this project, I have had a few brushes with racism and I am sure I will for life. It just is what it is.
But I digress. What is the silver lining behind the increased racism? An eventual swing towards the other end that will result in at least a greater awareness and an increased level of compassion. That timeless law of compensation is also one of those, it be what it be.
The litany of vitriol we hear in the airwaves is having the opposite effect. It goes against the soul of humanity to hate and malign a fellow human being due to race.
The social conscience of the country swung from right to left with the presidential election. This adjustment is creating a catharsis in both camps leading to high tide. This intolerance will eventually run it’s course and in it’s place will be memories of what not to do.
My small part is to teach my four year old to see the commonality he shares will all. My past with racism and discrimination will not be relished or used as currency for him to demand entitlement.

…just stopped by for the first time since earlier this year. I cannot say I’m surprised by the dwindling death of this site. I like Wizard Academy stuff and I think the desire behind this site was noble, but a lot of the articles turned me off right away.
I tried to point out some problems to some of the authors, but alas I was dismissed as not understanding racism or simply ignored.

Thanks Jim. I’m in till the finish, “Yes we can.”
As far as agreeing or disagreeing is not even as important as having a dialogue. I can respect you and value you as a fellow human being even if you don’t agree with my personal beliefs.
The problem lies when we set ourselves up as better, more powerful, richer, smarter, whiter, more Hispanic, etc. and use that to attack and demoralzie. My little boy gets along just fine with all his little friends. He is color blind and I keep him that way till it’s time to explan racism and how to deal with it.

Victor, first of all it’s good to see you. I’m glad to know someone else is still blogging here.
I wish I could agree with everything you’re saying in this post, but I’m afraid exclusion of one kind or another is *precisely* the soul of fallen humanity. We seem to be taken with the idea of defining who we are by focusing on who we are not. That leads to dismissal or hatred of the other, and it crosses the political spectrum.
